Our guest article is featured in the October 2026 edition of the ITA’s magazine
We at Hermith GmbH are proud to announce that our article has been published in the October 2026 edition of “Titanium Today”, the magazine of the International Titanium Association (ITA). As a member of the ITA, we were invited to contribute a guest article on the state of the titanium industry in Europe, and our executives answered the association’s questions. The feature, “Titanium Supplier Hermith of Germany Provides a Glimpse of European Market” by Michael C. Gabriele, runs on pages 20–28.
What we shared in the article
- Aerospace demand remains structurally strong. Major aerospace OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) have recently seen production slowdowns, partly due to supply chain constraints. Even so, we see titanium demand across aerospace sectors remaining robust.
- Quality and traceability matter more than ever. After recent concerns about non-conforming and counterfeit materials, OEMs have tightened their qualification and traceability requirements. We support Tier 2 and Tier 3 suppliers with additional third-party laboratory testing and verification. As a result, we have seen a noticeable increase in demand from customers who need higher compliance and reliability.
- A more regional, risk-aware supply chain. Since COVID-19 and the geopolitical and economic events that followed worldwide, Europe’s titanium supply chain has moved toward supplier diversification, stockholding strategies, and European and non-Russian sources. In our experience, this has made the market more resilient but also more cost sensitive.
- Growth beyond aerospace. About 75% of our production goes to aerospace, about 20% to the medical sector, and 5% to automotive, industrial and other sectors. We are also moving closer to renewable energy, especially wind energy. We see emerging growth in offshore wind and hydrogen, drones and light aviation, medical implants for an ageing population, and additive manufacturing.
- Technology trends. We see recycled titanium and circular supply chains, lower-CO₂ production methods, and the growing use of 3D printing in aerospace and medical applications shaping the market.
- Demand for high-performance alloys. From our perspective, there is a rising demand for alloys such as Ti-6242, Ti-6246, Ti-662 and beta alloys like Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al, as industries need lighter, stronger and more heat-resistant materials.
“We are honoured that the International Titanium Association invited us to share our perspective. Europe’s titanium market is changing fast. Supply security, certified quality and full traceability have become decisive for our customers, and that is exactly where we want to support them,” says the management team at Hermith GmbH.
Looking ahead, we expect the near-term European market to be driven by rising aerospace production, supply chain localisation and growing sustainability requirements. Energy and raw material costs remain a key challenge. At the same time, we expect demand to continue expanding into the medical, energy and advanced manufacturing sectors.
